The Lincoln Ranger Station is one of three on the Helena National Forest. General forest information is available. Visitor maps can be purchased as well as permits for firewood and Christmas trees. Weekday hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm.

In the lobby of the ranger station is a taxidermy display of a very large grizzly bear. The bear was a healthy 12-year-old male weighing 830 pounds and would have stood approximately 8 feet tall. Grizzly bear males typically weigh approximately 500 pounds and females 330 pounds. The oldest bear recorded in Montana lived between 35 and 36 years.

In the weeks after the big bear's death, there was considerable state-wide interest in where he should be displayed. School children from the area wrote heartfelt letters and essays on where the bear should be displayed. The residents, communities and children in the Upper Blackfoot valley are pleased the decision was made for the grizzly to come back to Lincoln. The taxidermy for the bear was donated by members of the United Taxidermist Association.
