Welcome to Glen, Montana
Glen has had a post office since 1950, when Louise Boucher was postmaster. Once a Union Pacific station, it was named because it is in a glen between the Big Hole and Beaverhead rivers. (from Cheney's Names on the Face of Montana, Mountain Press Publishing Company) Surrounding Glen are rocky hillsides. Browne's Lake is a state fishing access site located in southwest Montana. There is a campground with restrooms and boat launch provided. Fishing and boating may be enjoyed on the lake. Kalsta Bridge and Glen State Fishing Access also provide fishing opportunities in the Glen area. Fishing and boating may be enjoyed on the Big Hole River. At the Glen State Fishing Access, there is a boat ramp available for carry-in launching. There is a campground with about 12 sites in a bushy area along the river with a few cottonwood trees. Glen is near Beaverhead Rock State Park. Sacajawea recognized this huge landmark, resembling the head of a swimming beaver, while traveling with the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. Beaverhead Rock is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
